Dir. Miranda July

When a couple decides to adopt a stray cat. their perspective and approach to life radically changes.

MY TAKE

Writer/director/actor Miranda July’s much-anticipated follow-up to her indie debut sensation You and Me and Everyone We Know is less a revelation than evidence of a quirky cinematic auteur.  Her slow, wide-eyed comedic pacing is once again well employed, while casting a doppelganger boyfriend feels like a pitch perfect pairing. But you’ll be surprised at what The Future has in store. As their new “live for the moment” mantra forces the two emotionally incubated characters to enter the adult world, the film takes earnest and artistic shifts that felt fresh and honest.
